Bar-B-Que "Bowl" in The Creek
Amateur Pit Masters - We Want You!
As you may know, We LOVE Bar-B-Que!! And we are looking for the best amateur pit masters around. Do you have a secret sauce? How about your own method to get those ribs perfectly tender? Well now is your chance to show your stuff! Introducing the Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que "Bowl" in the Creek! In a tailgating style format teams will compete for local bragging rights, awards and fun prizes. You will even receive recognition at Famous Dave's located on Miller Road in Flint Township.
EVENT SUMMARY: $25 entry fee. Competition is Saturday, June 3rd. Competitors will be given 2 full slabs of ribs for entry. 1 slab will be designated to be turned in at the end of the time period for judging. The remaining slab is yours to eat, share with other competitors or take home. Competitors are welcome to mingle with others, ask questions of our bar-b-que experts and enjoy the afternoon in this leisurely competition. Competitors are to bring their 'Bowl' grill, seasonings, sauces and other desired utensils.
JUDGING: You will be participating in onsite judging of barbecued St. Louis Pork Ribs. In order to give all competitors a level playing field Famous Dave's will provide each entry their competition slabs. These will be supplied fully raw and ready to cook. Entries will be presented in blind submission boxes provided. Teams will be judged by our Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que pit masters. All judging decisions are final.
Grills must be of the ‘bowl’ type and uninsulated; see examples:
Smoker devices such as Eggs, Kamados etc. are not eligible to compete. Individuals/Teams may cook with either charcoal or wood of their choice. Other flammables, i.e. propane, liquid, compressed gas, or electricity may only be used to start the initial fire. No electrical heating devices may be used to hold, warm or cook the entries.
JUDGING CRITERIA: You will be given detailed judging information and scoring criteria in your competition packet and during the judging orientation.
